About Us

In 1968, 20 years after its own establishment, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) founded the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). The declared purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners.

PRSSA aims to foster:
* An understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
* Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
* Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
* Appreciation of Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership

PRSSA’s mission is to serve its members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities and to serve the public relations profession by helping to develop highly qualified, well-prepared professionals.

6. PRSSA Jobcenter: This database contains job and internship postings from across the country for both members and employees to explore. 7. Blog: The Blog’s design allows for immediate, topical discussions of news items posted by the content managers. PRSSA may also post news pertaining to annual events, activities and initiatives.

8. Membernet: Launched as a resource for PRSSA members to update their information with the PRSSA Headquarters Staff and receive access to a database of industry specific articles and award-winning public relations case studies.

9. Meet new people: Students from all different major backgrounds join PRSSA. At the PRSSA National Conference, held every fall, hosts more than 200 PRSSA chapters from across the country. Join PRSSA, make new friends, and developing long lasting, networking relationships!

10. Socials: PRSSA SJSU will host a variety of socials this year including a New Member Ice Cream Social, Halloween and Holiday parties, bowling and football game outings, and much more! Come join the fun as a PRSSA SJSU member!
