Thank you to everyone who came to our second meeting of the year tonight, it was a huge success and hearing from our alumni gave members a lot of insight on what to expect from both SJSU’s PR program and life as a PRSSA Club member.

Just a reminder, to attend our next meeting on Wednesday, October 19th, everyone must have turned in a membership form and their $70 membership fee. Otherwise there will be a $5 charge to attend the meeting.

Hi everyone and welcome back to a new school year. The PRSSA Executive Board here at SJSU is already planning different events and topics for our meetings, so get excited for a year that will be full of learning and growing as young public relations professionals.

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing new faces and old friends at our events this year.

Social Media Q&A with Michael Brito

Is social media a fad or here to stay?
Should social media be a class required for PR students?

These are some of the questions you may ask yourself.

You hear of people being asked at interviews: Do you know how to run a social media campaigns? Do you blog? What environmental scanning tool do you use?

So, this is your chance to prepare yourself and have your questions answered.

Michael Brito is VP of Edelman Digital. He has worked for major brands in the Silicon Valley (HP, Yahoo! and Intel) and was instrumental in driving social media programs and campaigns emphasizing authenticity and long-term relationship building.

Michael years of experience in technology and social media have prepared him to raise thousands of dollars in his popular Tweetups, benefiting local and international non-profits.

Here are some topics he may cover:
- Netiquette
- SM measurement
- SM online tools

Prof. DiSalvo has happily agreed to mediate this presentation. She will help us get a sense of the direction Public Relations is taking in relation to social media.

Also, feel free to send out your questions ahead of time. We’ll have Prof. DiSalvo ask them in your honor.
