Responsibilities:

•Performs a variety of administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, organizing clips, research, reporting and tracking information, media database  research.

•May be asked to assist with writing/researching for press releases and other PR initiatives as needed.

•Assisting with media requests such as media kits/images/videos to journalists

•Writing tasks such as memos and correspondence (i.e. thank you letters from the CEO)

•Maintains business calendar, client files and performs basic office administrative duties and provides partial coverage for the reception desk.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Junior or senior college student (GPA of 3.0 or higher) who is studying communications, public affairs, public relations, marketing or journalism, and is looking for communications experience or college credit.

•Strong verbal and writing skills, must present writing samples (reporting, PR writing or journalism course experience helpful)

•Excellent project and time management skills (must be detail-oriented and be able to meet deadlines)

•Reliable in attendance and work quality (referrals from professors and/or employers a must)

•Ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and must have high attention to detail

•Must be able to take direction in a positive manner and be willing to learn

•Must be able to work with some autonomy

•General computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc.)

•Diplomatic communication style required, will work with various stakeholders and media

KGO-TV/ABC7 Internship Program (unpaid)

Accepting Applicants Year-Round
KGO-TV internship program offers qualified undergraduate and graduate students an interesting training opportunity to gain hands-on experience and in-depth exposure to a broadcasting station in a major television market. The internship enables students to work on various assignments under the direction of professional staff and is tailored to provide the maximum exposure to practical work experience for students who are pursuing or exploring careers in broadcasting and related fields.
Selection is based on the student’s academic credentials, letters of recommendation and a match between the students’ expressed goals with those of the internship program.
REQUIREMENTS:
The internship must be applicable to college course credit. Students must be a junior, senior or graduate student level, and must be currently enrolled at a four-year college or graduate school in the United States. Students should be able to satisfy a minimum of 10 hours and/or a maximum of 19 hours per week (up to 40 hours in the summer).
