The 2010-2011 PRSSA Executive Board (Check Back for Full Biographies, Photos and Contact Information!)
President - Robb Silverstein
Hi all, I’m Robb Silverstein and I am the president of PRSSA for the 2011-2012 school year. I am a fourth year student majoring in public relations. Some of hobbies include sports, music, movies and watching MTV reality shows. (Not Teen Mom). Anyways, I would be thrilled to get a chance to meet you. Feel free to approach me with any questions if you see me in DBH. All of us live here basically. We have a lot of exciting stuff planned this year and I hope you consider joining PRSSA!
Immediate Past President – Monica Padilla
Vice President of Professional Development – Megan Brooks
Hello fellow Spartans! I couldn’t be more excited to be on the board for PRSSA-SJSU and providing you guys with help and resources just as I have gotten from being a member in PRSSA-SJSU. I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and the youngest of 5 siblings. I have been at SJSU for four years now, now majoring in Public Relations with a double minor in Sociology and RTVF. I am huge sports fan, love old and new music, and having a good time with friends and family! I’m looking forward to a great year with PRSSA-SJSU and definitely ready to put us “on the map!”
Director of PR and Community Relations – Isabel Garcia
Choosing Public Relations as a minor may have been one of the easiest decisions I have ever made, because it combines everything I love into one exciting and compact major! I am currently a Junior at San Jose State working on a major in PR and a minor in Health Professionals and am an employee for the Student Union’s Information Center. As an intern for Mermaid Series Women’s Races I hope to continue my career in the Community Health area of Public Relations, and I thank PRSSA making my transitions in this major a breeze through all of the friendships I have made in the club. Connections in this major is a key aspect of survival, and PRSSA is an amazing source for doing just that!
Director of Fundraising – Jasmine Zamora
I am a 4th year at SJSU, majoring in public relations. I love fashion, art, the 49ers & Giants. In my spare time I like to go thrift shopping, spend time with family/friends, go to concerts or just have a good time! I’m looking forward to an awesome year with PRSSA!
Director of Finance- Wendy Suzuki
I am originally from New York and been living in the Bay Area for 15 years. Last summer, I went to Turin, Italy for seven weeks to teach English to children and teens at a church camp. I ate gelato and pizza almost every day I was there. Since the World Cup was playing, my roommates and I went to the piazza on Sundays to go see the matches on a huge screen with passionate and rowdy Italian fans all around us. I went to Rome for one weekend and walked all day to see all the great touristy sites like the Colosseum, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. It was so exciting to be part of a culture I never knew much about before. I am a new board member of PRSSA and I thought that I would never be a board member of any club. I look at this as a chance to work with a team to provide students like myself, learning opportunities before graduating from SJSU.
Event Coordinator- Megan Wymer
Membership Coordinator- Alicia Moore
Editor in Chief- Carolyn Galavante
Hi, my name is Carolyn Galvante and I am a senior studying public relations. I am a member of the PRSSA-Pearce Davies Alpha Chapter, and serve on the board as the newsletter editor.
Outside of school, I am a project coordinator for The Luna Company, an artist management and entertainment service company, and also intern part-time for the San Francisco 49ers. I lead a busy, but extremely fulfilling life, and consider myself an ordinary girl blessed with extraordinary opportunities.
When I do have free time, I enjoy reading books and love broadening my music library (p.s. check out the Blue Scholars and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis–so filthy!). Also, after spending a semester abroad in Paris, I’ve discovered a newfound love of traveling and wine.
This year, I hope to help our PRSSA members put our chapter back on the map and show everyone how worthy our chapter is of national recognition–I mean, we were one of the first chapters to have been created by the PRSA Board of Directors in 1968!
